Yakima Valley/Technical Skills Center

1 to 4 semesters

One credit toward graduation will be earned for each trimester enrolled. These credits will be transferred to the student's home high school.

Fees and Costs
West Valley school district does not provide transportation to or from the Skills Center. Each student is responsible for his/her own transportation.

Course Overview
The Yakima Valley Skills Center is an area Technical school devoted to teaching students specific job entry skills, knowledge comprehension and application of technological concepts. Graduates either enter the job market or continue their education. Students must be juniors or seniors to enroll. Each course is designed around a basic one year (two periods a day) curriculum with an option for a second year of advanced work in most programs.

Enrollment
West Valley students enroll for Skills Center classes when they enroll for on-campus classes. Classes are two periods a day for a full year. The openings in each class are limited by an allocated number of students for each high school.

Attendance
Regular attendance is mandatory. Unexcused absences will be grounds for dismissal from the Skills Center. Each student must attend the full session each day. Six absences per trimester shall be grounds for loss of credit.

Time
Students will attend only one session per day. A morning and an afternoon session will be offered using the following time schedule.
Morning Session:     8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Afternoon Session:  12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
