Course Overview

The student will  learn about library operations and will  assist library  staff by working at the circulation desk, processing new books, shelving books and magazines in assigned areas, assisting students and teachers in the research process, and performing other related tasks. Library skills and work habits will be taught and assessed. Students electing to take this cours e need to exhibit responsi bility, maturity and consistent  attendance.  

Student Learning Objectives

As a result of required instruction the student will be able to:

1. Independently maintain circulation and shelving of library materials.

2. Assist students and teachers in finding and using materials and information.

3. Demonstrate work habits including responsibility, initiative, accuracy, following instructions and cooperation.

4. Employ positive customer service skills.

Assessment

Grading will be based on proficiency in trained library skills, library knowledge, work ethic, and successful completion of special assignments.
